The Big Kahuna at Typhoon Lagoon

Friday, January 10th, 2020

During the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend this year, the temperatures are much warmer than usual. Because of that, Disney offered runners 50% off of waterpark tickets.  We decided to check out Typhoon Lagoon.

We arrived early and Rilianne was selected to be the “Big Kahuna”. They taught her a special wave, gave us a private tour, and let Rilianne open the park.  We even got our own private cabana with lockers for the day!  It was an amazing day and a great way to cool off!

Independence Day Injury

Friday, July 5th, 2019

Late last night, we were in the pool with all of the lights off shooting and watching fireworks.  I have jumped into the shallow end of the pool a million times, but last night I landed really wrong on my heel.

I spent a while this morning at OrthoGeorgia’s urgent care.  An x-ray revealed some pretty significant heel spurs and one of the heel spurs may have a small fracture.  While I’m glad nothing is broken, it doesn’t hurt any less.  It looks like I’ll be sporting this new (and really expensive) shoe for at least a few weeks.  And not running.

Fourth of July Pool Fun

Thursday, July 4th, 2019

We are enjoying day two of our five day weekend. We’ve been a little productive — running errands and doing chores — but we’ve also spent a good bit of time in the pool.  Now that Rilianne is a much better swimmer, I had to grab my underwater camera to capture some moments.

September 2018 Aquanauts Swim Meet

Friday, September 21st, 2018

This evening, Tristan participated in his 4th swim meet.  He won 2 out of 5 of his heats. But even better, his time decreased in all five events. As his time decreases, he swims against more experienced swimmers so the times are a better indication of his improvements than actually winning.

Pool Party

Sunday, July 22nd, 2018

We had a couple of pool parties this weekend. First, we had Kimberlie’s family over and then we had my family over and Mackenzie added a friend. Rilianne even demonstrated her new diving board skills.

The swimming pool is definitely the place to be in the summer.

Rilianne on the Diving Board

As swimming lessons wrap up, here are some pictures of Rilianne doing a great job jumping off of the diving board!

Rilianne’s Swimming Lessons

Tuesday, July 10th, 2018

Rilianne began swimming lessons again with Splash Class Warner Robins. This is her third year. For the first two years, she was in a “Mommy and Me” class that turned into a “Daddy and Me” class.  Thankfully, I don’t have to participate this time.

She is doing an excellent job and really loves the water.

January 2018 Rilianne Randoms

Sunday, January 28th, 2018

Playing hide-and-seek on the front porch.

Bath time is never a dull moment.

Rilianne loves looking out her window at the swimming pool. She is ready for warm weather.

This is how we spend our days: potty training.

Swimming Lessons For All

Thursday, June 29th, 2017

For the past two weeks, the kids and I have been taking swimming lessons.

Each evening, Tristan and Mackenzie take lessons on strokes. Tristan is considering joining a local swim club.

After their class, Rilianne and I do a “Mommy and Me” class.  In fact, four of the five parent/child sets in the class were not “Mommys”, but Daddys instead.

After that class, I send the kids packing and I did an adult strokes class. I would like to add swimming into my workout routine, with the hopes of doing a triathlon in the next few years.  Before now, I never knew how to properly do the strokes.

Pool Lights

Saturday, June 3rd, 2017

I recently completed a small backyard upgrade — string lights over the pool. These are not the $15/strand lights you might see at Target. These are commercial-grade string lights.  They look awesome at night!

I know the HOA isn’t happy about them, but we’ll see how that goes!
